The term GATE stands for "Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE)". It is the examination conducting body for all the Graduate Engineers for admission into Masters Program and job in Public Sectors companies. The GATE exam scores determined the performance of the candidates and this score is used in various Masters programs to get admission into their respective branches of Engineering. It is considered one of the toughest examinations. This examination is administered by IIS(Indian Institute of Science) and IIT(Indian Institute of Technology). One who gets through this examination can apply for a job and for further education and so many public sectors undertaking companies also considered this GATE score for recruiting entry-level Engineers in their public organisations.
