MOST IMPORTANT POINTS FOR CIVIL ENGINEERS

If you are a Civil Engineers(Site) then the following points which I am going to note down below is a must to keep in mind. As you may need it at any point of time. The following important points will prove you to be useful while appearing for any kind of Civil Engineering jobs. So, keep it handy with you and share the link with your friends as well. Now, lets see some of the most important points as follows:

#Cement:
Cement shall be tested for its setting & Compressive Test. 

1. The initial setting time shall not be less than 30 minutes.
2. The final setting time shall not be more than 10 hours.
3. Compressive Strength

#Slump Test(IS 456:2000): Tested to determine workability of the concrete:

Heavily reinforced 75 – 100 mm
Lightly reinforced 25 – 75 mm
Trench fill (insitu & Tremie) 100 – 150 mm (For Tremie(for piling) no need of vibrator)

#Curing Days Required:

Super Sulphate cement : 7 days
Ordinary Portland cement OPC : 10 days
Minerals and Admixture added cement : 14 days

And now the following points will definitely prove you a gems in any situations as it is mostly ask in interview and will definitely help you in your project execution. Hope you will like it: Let's begin our journey now:

1. Minimum thickness of slab is 125 mm.

2. For dowels rod minimum of 12 mm diameter should be used.

3. In steel reinforcement binding wire required is 8 kg per MT.

4. Lapping is not allowed for the bars having diameters more than 36 mm.

5. Chair spacing maximum spacing is 1.00 m (or) 1 No per 1m2.

6. Lap slices not be used for bar larger than 36 mm.

7. Chairs minimum of 12 mm diameter bars to be used.

8. Electrical conduits shall not run through column.

9. Minimum bars for square column is 4 No’s and 6 No’s for circular column.

10. Main bars in the slabs shall not be less than 8 mm (HYSD) or 10 mm (Plain bars) and the distributors not less than 8 mm and not more than 1/8 of slab thickness.

11. Dimension tolerance for cubes +/- 2 mm.

15. Free fall of concrete is allowed maximum to 1.50m.

16. PH value of the water should not be under 6.

17. Water absorption of bricks should not be more than 15 %.

18. Compressive strength of Bricks is 3.5 N/mm2.

19. Longitudinal reinforcement not less than 0.8% and more than 6% of gross C/S.

20. In soil filling as per IS code, 3 samples should be taken for core cutting test for every 100 m2.
